Teachers Recruitment
The shortage of primary school teachers was major constraints in efforts to improve access and retention. Due to non availability of BTC passed candidates in requisite numbers government of UP decided to recruit B.Ed/Lt. as primary school teacher. About 40,000 teachers have been recruited for primary Schools in the year 2005 by SCERT. Newly recruited teachers have been imparted six months (3 months theory + 3 months practice of teaching) training by SCERT at DIETs. After completion of training these teachers have been posted in various primary schools.
Para teachers- Shiksha Mitra and Acharya Ji

have been selected by the village education committee. As they were
not having prior training in pedagogy (because they have not been
provided with two-year BTC training), a comprehensive training programme
has been designed for them. This training package has been prepared
with the help of experts from Rajasthan Shiksha Karmi Board, subject
matter specialists, practicing teachers, NGO activists and members
of State Resource Group. The duration of this comprehensive training
programmes was one month. The package lays stress on basic concepts
of Language, Mathematics and EVS. It also aims at developing competence,
commitment and perceptions of the needed performance standards in
the trainees.
The training programmes for selected Shiksha Mitra/Acharya Ji have been organized at district level under the supervision and control of DIETs. Most of these programmes were very effective due to holistic approach followed and practical activities introduced as integral part of the sessions. The Shiksha Mitra/Acharyaji are working in their respective schools. Now successive training module based on pedagogy has been developed to reorient these shiksha Mitra/Acharya Ji. The duration of this comprehensive training is of 15 days duration. Training of 87867 Shiksha Mitras has been completed during the year 2004-05. |
